Jennifer M. Ardoin

    Jennifer M. Ardoin is a part-time Associate Attorney at Babineaux, Poché, Anthony & Slavich, L.L.C.  Jennifer received her B.A. Degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and minor in Psychology, magna cum laude, from Louisiana State University in December 2002 and her Juris Doctorate and Bachelor of Civil Law from Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert School of Law in 2006.

 

    Jennifer’s primary area of practice with Babineaux, Poché, Anthony & Slavich, L.L.C. is civil litigation, commercial litigation, business law, and labor and employment law.  She also practices in the areas of commercial real estate, trademark litigation and employment defense litigation.

 

    Jennifer is also currently employed as an Assistant District Attorney/Felony Prosecutor with the St. Landry Parish District Attorney’s Office in the 27th Judicial District, Opelousas, Louisiana. She joined the District Attorney’s Office in September 2007 following a one year clerkship with the Honorable Judge Ellis J. Daigle, 27th Judicial District Court, wherein she assisted in civil and criminal matters from August 2006 to September 2007. Jennifer currently represents the State of Louisiana in felony criminal cases ranging from drug-related offenses to violent offenses. Among her numerous responsibilities, she is accountable for an entire felony docket in which she handles each case from the filing of the charging instrument through trial and/or plea and sentencing. She has tried various felony cases, including, but not limited to, possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, incest, aggravated rape, aggravated second degree battery, and attempted murder, as well as assisting on homicide litigations. She is also the Chief Appellate Attorney handling all aspects of appellate matters for the District Attorney’s Office, including, but not limited to, preparing appellate briefs and writs, attending oral arguments, and preparing and arguing responses to post conviction relief motions in the state court and federal court systems. This appellate position recently afforded her the opportunity to argue a matter before the Louisiana Supreme Court.  

 

     Jennifer also has prior experience handling personal injury, expropriation, medical malpractice and workers’ compensation cases. Prior to joining the firm, Jennifer also conducted multifaceted commercial and residential loan closings to cover a sole practitioner’s overflow. She was also appointed as Curator by the 27th Judicial District Court Judges in numerous legal matters, including but not limited to property seizure sales, adoptions, community property partitions, interdictions and paternity suits.

 

     Jennifer is a recurring guest lecturer for business law classes at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
